Two-way shot
What is a two-way shot in pool?
A two-way shot is an attempt to pot a ball while also leaving a safety if you miss. You choose speed and cue-ball path so that a miss still leaves the opponent in trouble.
In more detail
Two-way shots are a hallmark of smart players: they turn low-percentage shots into positive outcomes either way. Plan where both balls end up on a miss, not just on a make.
People also ask
When should I play a two-way shot?
When the pot is difficult and a straight safety would give up too much, but a miss could still be made safe.
