How to Build a Consistent Pool Practice Routine

Consistency beats intensity. A simple weekly structure you'll actually follow.

In short

  • Consistency beats intensity: pick a frequency you can keep.
  • Rotate three session types across the week.
  • Log date, drill, score, main miss and one note.
  • Review weekly and change the focus every 2–4 weeks.

Choose a realistic frequency

Three 45-minute sessions a week, sustained for two months, will typically do more than one long weekend binge. Pick a number you can keep even in a busy week.

A weekly template

  • Session A: stroke and potting (Spot-to-Spot, Stop-Shot Ladder).
  • Session B: speed and position (Speed Ladder, Tangent-Line Zone).
  • Session C: patterns and pressure (Three-Ball Pattern, one-attempt sets).

Rotate the main focus every two to four weeks based on what your log tells you.

Keep a simple log

Date, drill, score, main miss, one note. That's enough. Review it at the end of each week and write one sentence: what improved, what didn't, what's next.
