Object ball
What is an object ball in pool?
An object ball is any ball other than the cue ball — the numbered balls you try to pocket. In 8-ball they are solids (1–7), stripes (9–15) and the 8-ball.
In more detail
Aiming means sending the cue ball to the one point on the object ball that drives it toward the pocket. That contact point sits on the line from the pocket through the object ball's center.
