Sighting
Also called: Eye pattern, Quiet eye
Should you look at the cue ball or object ball when shooting?
Sighting is the eye pattern you use while aiming and stroking. Most coaches recommend looking back and forth between cue ball and object ball during practice strokes, then finishing with your eyes on the object ball contact point at delivery.
In more detail
A consistent eye pattern stabilises aim. Looking at the cue ball last can work for some players, but the object ball last is the more common, reliable choice for potting.
