Steering
What is steering the cue in pool?
Steering is moving the cue sideways during the stroke to try to guide the ball into the pocket. It happens when you do not trust your aim, and it adds unintended english that makes the shot miss more, not less.
In more detail
The fix is to finalise your aim standing up, then commit: get down on the line, stroke straight and let the shot go. Video from behind the shot reveals steering instantly.
