Jabbing
Also called: Punching, Poking
What does jabbing the cue ball mean?
Jabbing is a short, quick stroke that stops at or just past the cue ball. It usually comes from tension or fear of overhitting, and it makes speed and spin inconsistent.
In more detail
Replace the jab with a shorter backswing and a smooth follow-through. For soft shots, a short, relaxed stroke that still finishes past the ball is far more controllable than a jab.
People also ask
Why does jabbing kill my draw?
The cue decelerates before contact, so less speed transfers into the cue ball and backspin wears off before it reaches the object ball.
