Foot spot
Also called: Spot, Head spot
What is the foot spot in pool?
The foot spot is the marked point at the intersection of the foot string and the long string, at the second diamond from the foot rail. The apex ball of the rack sits on it, and balls are 'spotted' there after certain fouls.
In more detail
The matching point at the other end is the head spot. The spot shot — a straight-ish cut from the kitchen to an object ball on the foot spot — is one of the most common benchmark shots in pool and a great accuracy test.

On the foot spot. If that spot is occupied, the ball is placed on the long string as close to the spot as possible, behind it.
