Jump cue
What is a jump cue?
A jump cue is a short, light cue with a hard tip designed for jump shots. Under WPA rules a cue used for jumping must be at least 40 inches long. Its light weight makes it easier to drive the cue ball down into the slate so it bounces over a blocker.
In more detail
Jumping is legal in most rule sets when done by elevating the cue and hitting down on the ball. Scooping under the cue ball is a foul. Some leagues and bars ban jump cues — check before you play.
People also ask
Is a jump shot legal in 8-ball?
