Thin cut
Also called: Feather cut, Thin hit
How do you make thin cut shots in pool?
A thin cut is a cut shot with a very small overlap between cue ball and object ball — usually over about 60°. The cue ball barely brushes the object ball, so aim must be extremely precise and throw becomes significant.
In more detail
Aim so the cue ball just passes the object ball's edge, use a smooth medium speed and consider a touch of outside english to reduce throw. Commit to the thinness — tentative strokes usually hit too full.
People also ask
Why do I hit thin cuts too full?
Throw drags the object ball forward and players subconsciously 'steer' toward fuller contact. Trust the edge of the ball and follow through.
