Ball in hand
Also called: BIH, Cue ball in hand
What does ball in hand mean in pool?
Ball in hand means you may place the cue ball anywhere on the table before your shot. Under WPA rules it follows any foul by the opponent; some bar and league rules restrict it to behind the head string after a scratch.
In more detail
Use ball in hand to solve problems, not just to take the easiest shot: break a cluster, get the right angle on the next ball, or play a strong safety.
People also ask
Can I touch the cue ball again after placing it?
Yes, under WPA rules you can adjust it with your hand or cue (not the tip in a stroke) until you shoot.
