Fractional aiming
Also called: Ball fractions, Overlap aiming
What is fractional aiming in pool?
Fractional aiming judges cuts by how much the cue ball overlaps the object ball at contact: full ball (0°), ¾ ball (about 14.5°), ½ ball (30°), ¼ ball (about 49°) and thin. You learn the angle each fraction makes, then match the shot to the nearest one.
In more detail
Fractions give a concrete visual target instead of an imaginary ball, and you can interpolate between them. Many players use them to calibrate ghost-ball aim.
