Push out
What is a push out in 9-ball?
A push out is an option in 9-ball on the shot right after the break: the shooter announces a push and may shoot the cue ball anywhere without needing to hit a ball or a rail. The opponent then decides who shoots next.
In more detail
A good push leaves a shot that is hard to judge — tempting enough that taking it is risky, but difficult enough that giving it back is also risky.
People also ask
Can you push out after any shot?
No — only on the shot immediately after the break, under WPA 9-ball and 10-ball rules.
