Mechanical bridge
Also called: Rake, Crutch, Bridge stick
When should you use a mechanical bridge in pool?
A mechanical bridge is a stick with a notched head that supports the cue when the cue ball is out of reach. Use it whenever stretching would lift you off the floor or force an unstable, crooked stance.
In more detail
Place the head about 6–10 inches from the cue ball, grip the cue butt with fingertips at shoulder height, and push the cue like a dart rather than swinging. Practising a few rake shots each week removes the stigma — pros use it without hesitation.
People also ask
Is it a foul to have no foot on the floor?
Under WPA rules at least one foot must touch the floor when you shoot. That is exactly what the mechanical bridge is for.
