Massé
Also called: Masse shot
What is a massé shot in pool?
A massé is a shot where the cue is elevated steeply and the cue ball is struck with sidespin downward, so it curves sharply around a blocking ball. It is legal in most rule sets as long as you hit the cue ball cleanly.
In more detail
Massé needs a precise stroke and good equipment; on many tables it can damage cloth if done badly. A half-massé (lower elevation) gives a gentle curve and is easier to control than full massé.

Is massé legal in pool tournaments?
Yes, under WPA rules, but some venues ban it to protect the cloth.
