Miscue
What causes a miscue in pool?
A miscue happens when the tip slides off the cue ball instead of gripping it, producing a click, a chalk mark and an unpredictable shot. The usual causes are hitting too far from center, missing chalk, or a hard, glazed tip.
In more detail
A miscue is not automatically a foul under WPA rules, but any foul it causes (such as missing the ball or a double hit) counts. Keep the tip scuffed and chalked and stay within about half the ball's radius from center.
People also ask
Is a miscue a foul?
Not by itself under WPA rules. It is a foul if it results in another foul, such as no rail after contact or hitting the wrong ball.
