Rail shot
Also called: Frozen rail shot, Rail cut
How do you pot a ball on the rail?
A rail shot is a pot along a cushion, with the object ball frozen to or near the rail. The ideal contact hits the object ball and the cushion at almost the same moment, so the ball runs down the rail into the pocket.
In more detail
A slightly softer speed helps the ball hug the rail. A touch of english toward the rail can help on some shots, but most players are more consistent with center ball and a precise aim.
People also ask
Should I hit the rail first on a frozen rail shot?
Ideally hit both together. Hitting the rail a tiny bit first is better than hitting the ball first, which drives it off the rail.
