Day-by-day plan

Day 1 is open to everyone — start today. Academy Members get every day in full, with timed session blocks, checkpoints and the final retest.

  1. D1

    Baseline: film it, score it

Find out what your stroke actually does today — before changing anything.

    • 0–5 min · Set your phone at table height, first directly behind the cue, then side-on. Film 10 normal practice strokes from each angle.
    • 5–15 min · Spot-to-Spot Stroke Line: 2 sets of 10. Count shots where the cue ball returns within one ball-width of the tip.
    • 15–22 min · Center-Ball Check: 10 attempts straight up and down the table. Count clean returns over the head spot.
    • 22–25 min · Write both scores in your log and note one thing you see on the video (head lift, elbow movement, short finish).

Checkpoint · Baseline video saved and both scores recorded in your log.

  2. D2

    Stance, grip & bridge

Build a stable base so the cue can swing on the same line every time.

  3. D3

    Backswing & final pause

Separate aiming from delivering with a clear pause at the back of the stroke.

  4. D4

    Follow-through & finish

Accelerate through the cue ball and hold a still finish.

  5. D5

Distance: keep it straight over length

Prove the stroke stays straight when the cue ball travels the full table.

  6. D6

    Apply it: stop-shot control

Use the new delivery on real pots with a precise cue-ball target.

  7. D7

Retest & choose your next step

Repeat Day 1 under the same conditions and compare honestly.

  • — Day 3: Pause and Deliver ≥8 of 10
  • — Day 4: Spot-to-Spot ≥7 of 10 within one ball-width
  • — Day 5: Long-Rail Stroke ≥6 of 10
  • — Day 6: Stop-Shot Ladder in ≤12 attempts
  • — Day 7: retest and video comparison

Completion criteria

All seven sessions logged and the Day 7 retest completed. Progress is measured against your own Day 1 numbers and video, not a fixed standard.

7-Day Stroke Fundamentals: questions

Can I really improve my stroke in 7 days?

Seven days is enough to build the correct habits and measure them. Making them automatic under pressure takes longer — that's why the programme ends with a retest and a clear next step instead of a promise.

Do I need to film myself?

Yes, on Day 1 and Day 7. A phone at table height is enough. Video shows faults you cannot feel, such as head lift or elbow drop.

I'm an experienced player. Is this too basic?

If you score 9 of 10 on the Day 1 tests, start with 30-Day Cue Ball Control instead. If you don't, the fundamentals are still costing you points.

What should I do after Day 7?

If your stroke scores improved, move on to 30-Day Cue Ball Control. If one test is still weak, repeat that day's session for another week before moving on.

Can I send my videos for feedback?

Yes. Video analysis coaching reviews your stroke individually, and Academy Members receive a member rate.
