Back-hand english

Also called: BHE

What is back-hand english?

Back-hand english (BHE) is a way to apply sidespin while compensating for squirt: aim at center ball, then pivot the cue from the bridge by moving only the back hand. If the bridge length matches the cue's pivot point, squirt is cancelled.

In more detail

BHE works best with a consistent bridge length. Front-hand english (moving the bridge) is the alternative; both need practice with your own shaft.

People also ask

Does back-hand english work with low-deflection shafts?

Yes, but the pivot point is longer, so you need a longer bridge or a small adjustment.
