Pivot point
What is the pivot point of a pool cue?
The pivot point is the distance back from the tip where, if you pivot the cue, the cue ball's squirt is exactly cancelled. Standard shafts often pivot around 10–13 inches; low-deflection shafts further back.
In more detail
Find it by aiming a center-ball shot down the table, pivoting to english from different bridge lengths and seeing which one sends the cue ball to the same spot.

How do I find my cue's pivot point?
Shoot from a fixed spot with center ball, then with back-hand english from different bridge lengths. The bridge length where the cue ball still hits the target is your pivot point (at that speed).
