Cue

Also called: Pool cue, Cue stick, Playing cue

What size pool cue should I use?

A standard pool cue is about 57–58 inches long, weighs 18–21 oz (19 oz is common) and has a tip of 12–13 mm. It has two parts — the shaft and the butt — joined in the middle so it can be taken apart.

In more detail

Weight and balance affect feel more than accuracy; the shaft's deflection characteristics and tip affect how much the cue ball squirts with sidespin. Taller players or those with long arms may prefer an extension so they can grip at the natural point.

Changing cues changes your aim with english, so pick one playing cue and stick with it while you build your stroke.

People also ask

What weight pool cue is best for beginners?

Most players start with 18.5–19.5 oz. Lighter cues give more 'feel' on soft shots; heavier cues feel stable but can encourage forcing. Comfort matters more than the exact number.
