Low-deflection shaft
Also called: LD shaft, Low-squirt shaft
What is a low-deflection shaft?
A low-deflection shaft is a cue shaft with a light front end (a hollow or lighter ferrule area, or carbon fiber) that pushes the cue ball off line less when you use sidespin. It reduces squirt, not the need to adjust aim.
In more detail
Every shaft has a natural pivot point. With a low-deflection shaft that point is further back, which changes back-hand english adjustments. If you switch shafts, re-learn your english aim on a few calibration shots before match play.
People also ask
Does a low-deflection shaft improve my game?
It can make english more forgiving, especially on long shots, but it will not fix a stroke that steers or an inconsistent tip position.
