Also called: Check side

What is reverse english in pool?

Reverse english (check side) is sidespin turning against the cue ball's direction along the cushion, so it rebounds at a narrower angle and with less speed.

In more detail

Players use it to hold the cue ball, shorten its path off a rail or straighten a bank. It is harder to control than running english because it fights the cushion.
